Aiding and Abetting Social Action in Scotland: 4 Stories from the Heart

Audio podcast and accompanying document.

Storytelling by Kevin Neary and George Thomson in collaboration with Aid & Abet.

This podcast has an accompanying document featuring the transcripts and further analysis which is available as pdf version and a word document.

Aid and Abet provides peer-to-peer support for people coming out of prison. Four men tell their personal stories with incredible self-insight and generosity. The power of their direct, plain, honest truths became the focus for a podcast, and this publication. Donald (peer mentor and co-founder of Aid and Abet) states that when he witnessed the “eyes lighting up” of the person he was a peer mentor to, he knew this was for him. We hope that this story will also light you up, and shed light on what helps and hinders social action in Scotland.

The 4 stories of personal struggle and discovery are mirrored by the struggle of one small organisation to survive. Kathrine Mackie, Aid & Abet Chair, reflects in the podcast on what she’s heard from the 4 stories and the need for change.
