Heritage for Prosperity: an African perspective of starting a fresh in Scotland is a podcast exploring the elements that support, alongside those that hinder the social action of Afreshe.

Based in Glasgow, Afreshe is a Scottish Charity and Company limited by guarantee founded by Margaret Nakityo in 2008. Afreshe promotes heritage to nurture the esteem of African children, young people and adults through active participation in their local communities.

Heritage connects us all and helps us to engage candidly with each other. Therefore, at Afreshe we promote heritage to unlock the active contribution of people of African ethnicity to Scotland’s prosperity. Our projects and activities are themed around embracing, reconnecting and sharing heritage. We work with over 150 families, as well as individuals, community groups and institutions.

This discussion is informed by conversations with community members about their experiences, including the positive impact of being part of Afreshe.
